Frozen Blu-Ray + DVD Collectors Edition:Review

Sarah reviews the Disney animated musical Frozen, now available on Blu-Ray and DVD!

Walt Disney Animation studios offer a chilly and modern twist to one of the most heartwarming and amazing fairy tales ever told. Disney’s best since its Renaissance Era, Frozen will melt your heart.

Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s The Snow Queen, the movie tells the story of fearless and optimistic Anna who sets off on  an epic adventure along with  a rugged mountain man called Kristoff and his loyal friend and reindeer Sven – to find her sister Elsa, whose magical icy and snowy powers have trapped the Kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter. Coming across snowy storms, blizzards, mysterious trolls and a hilarious snowman called Olaf, Anna and Kristoff go through many highs and lows before finally freeing their kingdom from the trap.

The film won two Acedemy Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song (“Let It Go“),[8] the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film, the BAFTA Award for Best Animated Film, five Annie Awards (including Best Animated Feature),and two Critics’ Choice Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song (“Let It Go”).

The Bottom Line

Frozen is undoubtedly Disney’s most successful animated film in a very long time and the highest grossing animation film ever. So, it’s perfectly okay to say that it struck a chord with almost everyone who saw it- young and old alike- so I don’t think I have to convince you that you should take the movie home and watch it again and again. From the creative storyline, the marvellous music score and the sweepingly beautiful visuals, there is almost nothing you won’t love about this film and I wish Disney good luck for making more such awesome films in future. 😀

The Frozen Blu-ray includes some awesome  bonus material (although frankly speaking, we would have been happy with many, many more!) Standouts in the extras included the Oscar-nominated short film “Get a Horse,” and of course the Demi Lovato music video for “Let it Go” – trust me, you’ll be singing along with her by the time you’ve watched the movie. You won’t regret having this gem in your collection.

Bring home the Frozen Blu-Ray High Definition featuring a mixed bag of never-before-seen extras with beautiful animation, memorable characters, a gripping story-line and unforgettable music. It’s a super fun watch for the whole family! So, it’s a win-win situation.

  3. Thanks for the review, Sarah! I just love the line in the trailer that goes ‘Who will save the day? The ice man? The snow man? No man?’ 😛

I need to go watch Frozen again just for the sake of watching it. It’s such a good movie 🙂

    • Of course it’s not a man who saves the day, Minerva. It’s a girl, and we all now it! 😉 #girlpower I really hope Disney makes more such films with strong girl characters. I really don’t think Brave was good…it didn’t really have a moral. But Mulan was just so awesome because Mulan disguises herself to save her father. 🙂

    • Holly, it was me and not Marigold who wrote this review, so please don’t blame her. :3
I know, and I understand how you feel. But see, I think it’s silly to boycott Disney like this. What you can do is to boycott the web division, since the head of the web-division was behind Pixie Hollow’s closure. 🙂
      See ya!

    Hi Pixies!
I just wanted to comment on something I found coincidental :

~Frozen and the Secret of the Wings were released around the same time.
~ They are both movies to do with cold and icy themes
~ The movies are based around sisters

~This point is just minor ~ The theme song of Frozen is “let it go” and Fairy Mary says the phrase “let it go” when Clank and Bobble are sad to see the ‘basket’ go.

Just thought I would mention it : I hope Disney does create some more movies based on girls as strong. Its always the man who saves the day ( except in Frozen and Mulan)
