“When there’s a smile in your heart, there’s no better time to start…”
You Can Fly! – Peter Pan

Back Story:

When a human baby laughs for the very first time, a fairy is born. The fairy’s life is directly linked to the child who created it, and if the child stops believing in fairies, then that fairy could die unless helped by the belief of many children.

The baby’s laugh is like a spirit that floats and lingers in the air until it is caught by a dandelion seed and carried to the second star to the right, and straight on till morning. Once it arrives in Never Land, the dandelion fluff will be spotted by the fairies and brought to Pixie Hollow for transformation.

Because dandelion seeds are so tiny and fragile, they can easily become lost during the journey to Never Land.  And, even if they do make it to Never Land, some laughs can arrive damaged, which results in an “Incomplete Fairy” that may be missing their ear tips, only half their body glows, and so forth.

Because so few of the millions of laughs that try to make the journey actually succeed, the fairies of Pixie Hollow get very excited about new arrivals. Aside from the joy of a new fairy joining their community, each Arrival Ceremony is unique and filled with magic, mystery, suspense, and celebration.

Marigold’s Story:

On one unusually warm morning in late February, a fast-flying fairy named Lickety spotted a dandelion wisp twirling in the air just as the sun was beginning to rise. It was wet with raindrops and glittered in the light.

“A new arrival!” Lickety shouted happily to pixies around him as he sped off to carefully guide the dandelion seed to the Pixie Dust Tree.

Word traveled fast, and many fairies and sparrow men from all over Pixie Hollow gathered at the Pixie Dust Tree for the Arrival Ceremony. Excited chatter could be heard all around as the crowd of pixies wondered what talent the new arrival would possess.

After a few agonizing minutes, Lickety led the dandelion wisp to land gently on a platform where the ceremony would take place.

Once the ruler of Pixie Hollow and all of the famous fairies had taken their places, a dust-keeper named Terence skillfully poured a cupful of golden glowing pixie dust over the seed, it quickly transformed, and a new fairy was brought to life!

At first, all the crowd could see was a very long mane of dark blond hair hiding the new arrival like a silky blanket. As the newly-formed fairy stood, they noticed she was taller than the average pixie with long arms and legs. She brushed the hair off of her face with long, slender fingers to reveal large turquoise eyes and cherry blossom colored lips. The pristine white dandelion fluff New Arrival dress and slippers enhanced the fairy’s tanned skin and made her appear to glow in the dim dawn light.

“Born of laughter, clothed in cheer, happiness has brought you here,” greeted an exquisite-looking fairy as she flew over to the new arrival. “My name is Queen Clarion – ruler of Pixie Hollow. Welcome to your new home!”

The new arrival smiled and looked around. She then nervously tugged on her hair as hundreds of eyes were watching her every movement.

“Now, let see about fitting you with some wings,” the queen said as she flew behind the fairy, waved her hands, and magically sprouted two wings from her back.

“Give them a try,” Queen Clarion urged with a smile, and the new arrival curiously flapped her wings, one at a time, and both at once. She then hovered above the platform before bursting through the tree and across the sky like a shooting star! As she swooped and soared, the other fairies couldn’t help but comment to one another about how she glistened and glittered in the sun’s early morning rays.

“Wow! That was so awesome!” the new arrival declared to everyone when she finally landed back on the platform. The crowd cheered and clapped in approval.

“Wonderful, Dear!” the queen said with a laugh. “I normally wait until after the talent has been chosen to suggest any names for the new arrivals, but I would like to make an early suggestion…”

The fairy’s eyes lit up with anticipation and she nodded quickly to allow the queen to continue.

“Because you shine in the sky like a diamond filled with sunlight, how do you like the name Sunjewel?”

The new arrival smiled brightly and said, “Sunjewel sounds lovely.”

“It’s very fitting,” replied Queen Clarion. “Now, let’s proceed to your talent selection!”

The queen waved her hands and several mushrooms appeared in a perfect circle around them. She then flew out of the circle to leave the new arrival alone in the center as the talent-mentor fairies came forward and placed magical items on each mushroom cap to represent their talent.

“You may now select your talent,” Queen Clarion said. “There is no wrong decision, so take your time and let your heart guide you.”

Unlike many of the other New Arrivals, the fairy knew she wanted to be a Garden Talent the moment she saw a leafy plant get set on a mushroom directly in front of her. She didn’t even bother to look at the other magical items displayed around her, because her eyes were completely fixated on the small potted plant with several closed buds on it.

I wonder what colors the blooms will be…” the fairy thought as she approached it. The leafy little plant appeared to be sleeping, but it seemed to stir once the New Arrival was standing in front of it.

“Hi there,” she said softly. The fairy reached out, lightly touched a leaf, and somehow knew instantly that the plant had plenty of water and was very healthy.

The little plant seemed to slowly wake up, and the branches reached for the fairy’s hand. It suddenly began to glow! The light intensified until the blooms burst open and shone like the summer sun.

Fairies and sparrow men witnessing the sight had to shield their eyes from the blinding brightness, but excited chattering could be heard all around, and the Garden Talents began clapping and cheering loudly for their new addition.

“There’s no mistaking your talent, Sugar!” A beautiful fairy wearing a rose-red petal dress flew up to the new arrival and threw her arms around her in a friendly embrace. “My name’s Rosetta, and I’m the mentor fairy to all the Garden Talents.”

“Nice to meet you, Rosetta!” the fairy said, excitedly. She then looked back at the shining plant and asked, “What kind of plant this is?”

“It’s a marigold,” Rosetta replied. “I usually bring roses to the arrival ceremonies, but this little gal stood out to me for some reason today, so I brought her instead.”

“Marigold…” the fairy said slowly, as if trying the word out.

As if reading her thoughts, Queen Clarion approached them and asked the fairy, “How about we call you Marigold Sunjewel?”

“Marigold Sunjewel…Yes, I think that’s perfect!”

    • Oh, no! 😦
As far as I know, there’s no way to access the old Pixie Pages ever since Pixie Hollow was closed…
I know it’s not totally the same, but you can still recreate your fairy on the Disney Fairies France site! Here’s the link:
If you don’t speak French, open the website in the Google Chrome browser and click “Translate” to change all the text to English 😉
